Fall skin care tips.
When the summer surrenders to cooler temperatures your skin develops different needs. As hard as it can be to pack away summer dresses and shorts, it also feels good to start wearing your favorite sweater and jeans. Over the summer your skin has become more dry and maybe even developed sensitive scaly patches. Fall is the perfect season to start preparing your skin for the upcoming cold winter mornings and dry air caused by our heating system.
Exfoliate that dry summer skin.
Your skin naturally protects itself against the sun by producing melanin and by thickening of the outer skin layer. Rejuvenate your skin during this season by face peel treatments. These facials will smooth your skin texture and remove that thick keratin layer you have built up over summer.
Exchange your lotion for a cream.
Creams provide a stronger oily barrier which reduces water loss from the outermost skin layer. Daily use of a creamy moisturizer will help in restore the moisture balance, improve the elasticity of your skin and function as a protective barrier against extreme temperatures.
Continue with sun protection
Applying an SPF in Fall is as important as in summer. A product rated SPF 20 allows you to stay in the sun without sun burn 20 times longer than without. It protects you against 93% to 95% of all the UVB rays. As a skin care specialist I advice to use an SPF 30 daily to prevent your skin from sun damage and premature aging. Don’t forget to apply the SPF on your hands. They get the same amount of sun exposure as your face.
